About Sam:
Samuel, Ranee, their 2 young children and their little dog "Baabie Kat" have a vested interest in seeing the City of Duarte becoming one of the best cities to raise their family. This can be accomplished by being proactive on economic development to increase city revenue, supporting existing businesses and developing a Biotech Corridor and a 4 or 5 Star Hotel by the Gold-line Station. We also need to attract jobs for the 21st century, improving our public schools and providing classes that are needed for the emerging fields of the future.
Sam is an independent candidate that will work with all sides once he gets elected. He believes in bridging the gap and reaching out to all sides in order to get things done in the City Council.
Sam grew up in South Pasadena. Sam was voted as the "Most Spirited" person in his class. After high school, he went to the Rio Hondo Fire Academy (Class of 39), where he graduated with his A.S. in Fire Technology. He was a Reserve Firefighter for 7 years and then he got his B.S. in Chemistry from U.C. Irvine. Soon after, Sam started an ISP company and there after, he went to work for a couple computer hardware companies where he developed the first generation "iPAD" in 2001. In 2004, after his received his MBA in Finance and M.S. in Computer Science from Azusa Pacific University, Sam created and operated Roasty Toasty Chicken in Duarte where he managed to create a brand new healthy concept and turned it to a line out the door! In 2008, Sam sold his restaurant and went back to the Fire Department where he served as a Emergency Officer/ Project Manager/ Business System Analyst. During that time, he worked with FEMA, State Emergency - CalEMA, County Operational Area and local cities & towns to mitigate emergencies such as Brush Fires, Floods, Earthquake, Heat Emergency and Water Contamination.
